Exercise 1 of 4
Retrieve a product price
In F4, find the price for the code in F2 using VLOOKUP and A2:C5. Use FALSE for an exact match.
Intro to Excel / Lesson 3 of 3
Find the right price and spot product codes that need checking.
Your scenario
You are putting together a customer quote.
A customer sends product codes rather than product names. Find each price in the catalogue so you can quote accurately. If a code is missing, you need to spot it instead of quietly charging for a different product.
Work through the briefProduct catalogue
| Code | Product | Unit price |
|---|---|---|
| P100 | Notebook | $12 |
| P200 | Pen pack | $7.50 |
| P300 | Folder | $18 |
| P400 | Desk tray | $24 |
A2:C5 is a table with three columns. Its leftmost column contains unique product codes. F2 holds the code to request. Prices are numbers, not text with a currency symbol.
Put it into practice
Exercise 1 of 4
In F4, find the price for the code in F2 using VLOOKUP and A2:C5. Use FALSE for an exact match.
Take it back to work
Approximate matching can return a neighbouring code's price. Check that the requested key exists and use FALSE for an exact match.
